Handlooms and Textiles Industry Telangana || Konda bapuji Awards || National Handlooms Day

The Union government declared 7 August as the National Handloom Day in July 2015 to raise awareness of the importance of the handloom industry. August 7 was chosen to commemorate the Swadeshi Movement, which was launched in 1905 in the Calcutta Town Hall in protest against the British government’s partition of Bengal, as the National Handloom Day. The objective of the movement was to revive domestic products and production processes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first National Handloom Day at the Centenary Hall of Madras University in Chennai on 7 August 2015.
